Babysitters
Whilst our staff are not trained babysitters, they are extremely child-friendly and one of the girls is normally available to baby-sit. Please notify the Manager in advance should you need a babysitter. You will be charged a small overtime fee for late-night babysitting.
Banks and foreign exchange
There are many banks available in Bali, both local and foreign. You will however find that licensed moneychangers normally provide a better foreign exchange rate than banks.
Bars and Nightclubs
Bali has a great nightlife and there are far too many watering holes to mention here. Two streets you might like to try, both within 10 minutes drive are: "A"Bar, Santa Fe, "QBar, Double Six
You should also look in a magazine called "The Beat", a copy of which is placed in each villa. Additional copies are available free of charge from a wide variety of restaurants and bars throughout Bali.
Beaches
Whilst great for watching, with white sand and excellent surf, can be dangerous and you are strongly advised to take notice of the flags on display. We have parking space for 2 cars/vans. In addition, parking on the main road is plentiful and reasonably secure.
Comments
Whilst we provide villa rather than hotel facilities, we have made great endeavors to provide as many "hotel" style facilities/services as possible without disturbing the atmosphere of villa living. Should you have any suggestions or comments, we would be delighted to hear about them. Please leave a note with the Manager or, alternatively, e-mail us at comment@shantiresidencesandresorts.com

Golfing Course
There are three excellent golf courses in Bali:
Bali Nirwana: This is located about 60 minutes up the coast adjacent to the Le Meridien Hotel. Built 4 years ago, this is an excellent sea view course and has a spectacular view of Tanah Lot temple, one of Bali's most sacred sites. Phone: 0361 244374
Nusa Dua: This course is located in Bali's 5 star hotel complex about 5 minutes away. It is beautifully maintained. Phone: 0361 771791 - 0361 772498
Bali Handara: Set in one of Bali's extinct volcanos, this experience is not to be missed provided you can cope with the 3 hour drive to get there. Phone: 0361 22646, please note that golf in Bali is expensive for visitors and that advance tee bookings are required.
Grocery shopping
The nearest supermarket is Bali Collection located at Nusa Dua BTDC, which is about 10 minutes away. Should you wish to buy imported meats, cheeses and groceries, a delicatessen called Dijon is located at Kuta Poleng Mall A-2, Jl Setiabudhi, Kuta; this about 20 minutes drive and close to the airport.
WI-FI
Please read the simple instruction card
Hospitals and medical services
The emergency local ambulance call out number is 0361 733301. Alternatively, we have found the best expat-run medical service to be BIMC which is located at Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai. Phone 0361 761263.
Kitchen Equipment
The kitchen is equipped with modern Western appliances ranging from juicers to microwaves.
Laundry
Sheets and bath towels are normally replaced every two days. Should you wish to have your towels changed more frequently, please place them in the laundry basket in your bathroom. Please place any personal laundry in the laundry bags provided and fill out the laundry list in your bedroom cupboard. There is a charge for laundry, as we contract this externally, which will be invoiced to you at the end of your stay. A list of charges is available in each bedroom. Please leave 48 hours for the return of laundry before your departure.
Massage Service
We operate an excellent call-in service which you must experience. Please contact one of the house staff for an appointment.
Pool safety
"Please note that usage of the pool is entirely at your own risk and there is no lifeguard on duty ". The house staff on duty may be unable to swim! At night the pool lights and filter are switched off at 20.00 hrs, or later should you request.
Rainy weather and flooding
Bali' s monsoon season runs from November to April and, whilst it is rare that it rains throughout the day, some of the downpours can be quite fierce. As with all properties in Bali, minor flooding can occur both in the garden and in the exposed hallways. Whilst this is quickly cleared up by the staff, please exercise caution on wet floors as they can be very slippery. During rain showers, you will find a supply of "Bali-style" umbrellas in each building which you can use to go between the various buildings.
