The next event on the islands social calendar is the Bali Food Festival taking place on 26th to Sunday 28th September 2008. This annual culinary extravaganza will be staged on the beachfront promenade that extends from Jln. Melasti to the front of the Mandira Hotel on Jln. Padma in Kuta.
The festival will focus entirely on food and showcase the diversity of cuisine that is now available on the island of Bali. Small warung outlets specialising in local delicacies, fine dining establishments, popular restaurants, trendy cafe's and fast food favourites will all set up stalls for this three day event. Come along and bring your appetite!
Tumpek Kandang
The next auspicious date on the Balinese religious calendar is Tumpek Kandang which falls on 8th November 2008. This is an occasion that honours farm animals that are highly valued in rural village communities such as cows, pigs, and chicken. Prized cattle are carefully bathed in the morning and prepared for a special blessing ritual. Gratitude to God Almighty is expressed through a series of prayers and then the animals are sprinkled with rice and holy water.
